In her word, she said: ”Two days before he killed Salome, he was moody and asked me to come to his house”. Despite his persistent requests, she declined, choosing instead to leave with her friends. She noted, “He actually tried all he could but I stood my ground; he didn’t even know when I left.”
This colleague further observed a marked change in Ajayi’s behavior that Thursday. Typically, Ajayi would not stay overnight at the resort during practice sessions. However, on this occasion, he chose to sleep there and appeared deeply moody, distancing himself from others. Reflecting on this, she said, “I thought maybe he needed space. Had it been that I followed him, maybe I would have been the one facing Salome’s story.”
She also recounted an incident involving a mutual friend who had gone to Ajayi’s house for a rehearsal accompanied by her brother. At the end of the session, Ajayi requested that she return alone for further practice, but her brother insisted against it. These instances led her to believe that Ajayi might have been harboring harmful intentions, as she remarked, “I think Ajayi had already planned to kill someone in his house.”
In the aftermath of Salome Adaidu’s death, Ajayi was arrested and charged with culpable homicide. He was arraigned before Justice Simon Aboki at the High Court of Justice in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge. The case has been adjourned to March 17-20 for trial.
The legal proceedings are ongoing, and the court aims to ensure a fair and expedited trial. The prosecuting counsel has expressed confidence in the evidence available, stating, “We have overwhelming evidence to sustain the charge, and we are optimistic that justice will be done.”
As the case unfolds, the testimonies of those close to Ajayi provide a deeper understanding of the events leading up to this tragic incident. The gospel music community and the public at large await the court’s findings, hoping for justice for Salome Adaidu. ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
