According to L’Equipe, both club representatives were punished by the French Football Association’s disciplinary committee after incidents that occurred at the end of the game.

Marseille’s football director, Mehdi Benatia, received a three-month ban, plus an additional three months suspended. Referee Clement Turpin showed him a red card for sharply criticizing the fourth official when he did not award a penalty in favor of Marseille at the end of the match, when the team was losing 0:1.

The sentence was severe because Benatia had already received a ban in September for criticizing referee Benoit Bastien after the red card of defender Leonardo Balerdi in Marseille’s match against Lyon (3:2).

Lille’s president, Olivier Letang, was banned for one month. He descended from the stands at the end of regular time in the French Cup match and grabbed the fourth official’s arm, intending to show him that the added time had been exceeded.
