Mohamed Salah says Liverpool really ‘need to ‘improve’ in one area despite their 6-3 win over Tottenham

Mohamed Salah staked yet another claim for why he is the best player in the Premier League currently as he starred in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory against Tottenham Hotspur. Salah scored a brace and assisted Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz’s goals in what was yet another vintage display from the all-conquering winger....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤

The Liverpool talisman’s passes for both Szoboszlai and Diaz’s goals were of the highest order, picking out their respective runs after showing a brief moment of patience.

As for the Champions League winner’s goals, he was simply at his predatory best inside the box. Arne Slot will be a happy man after his Reds side are now four points clear at the top of the league table with a game in hand.

However, Salah had a complaint about his Liverpool side. The former Roma forward feels his side must up their game defensively, conceding three goals to Tottenham.

Speaking to Sky Sports via Optus Sport, Salah said: “Well, we were quite good up front but defensively, I think we need to improve as a team, not just individuals but conceding three goals is quite hard but I think Virgil [van Dijk] and Ali [Alisson] will speak better than me on that.”

“But yeah, it’s quite a good result and we need to keep going.”

Salah had every reason to simply be content, considering Liverpool look dead set to win the league title while he has more goal contributions (26) in the English top-flight than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

But instead, being the perfectionist he is, the decorated wideman urged his Liverpool teammates to defend better.

While Diaz’s prompt response after scoring the visitors’ sixth goal would have eased Salah’s nerves, it seemed like Spurs had somewhat of a chance of staging a miraculous comeback after coming back from being 5-1 down to 5-3.

At the end of the contest, Arne Slot’s side won and their defensive lapses did not cost them.

It is difficult to disagree with Salah.

Liverpool have shipped 10 goals in their past five league games.

For a team that is trying to win the title, such a leaky defensive record could come back to bite them.

Liverpool are conceding needless goals as well, with Mac Allister getting his pocket picked for James Maddison’s opener, Dejan Kulusevski having acres of space to run into before scoring and Andy Robertson losing a header to Brennan Johnson, who set a free Dominic Solanke up at the back post.

Salah’s post-match assessment will likely be taken seriously by Virgil van Dijk and Co. ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
