Kemi Filani reported that Tems had won the Best African Music Performance category for her popular song, Love Me, Jeje, at the 67th Grammy Awards, which was held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025.
The talented singer beat her colleagues, Yemi Alade’s ‘Tomorrow,’ Asake MMS, Chris Brown and Davido’s Sensational, and Burna Boy Higher to clinch the award.
Tems had received three nominations at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career nomination to a total of eight. Her big win at this year’s Grammys makes it her second Grammy win as in 2023, she won the Best Melodic Rap Performance category for her contribution to the hit song, ‘Wait for U’, with Future and Drake.
Taking to his Instagram page and Twitter page, Davido celebrates Tems over her win.
He tweeted, “Congratulations to my one and only 🐐 ! @chrisbrown ! And to the Queen @temsbaby we are proud of you!”.
Meanwhile, for Davido, he lost all 3 categories he was nominated for. The singer was nominated for Best African Music category, which Tyla’s Water won; best Global Music Performance, which Pashto by Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Zakir Hussain featuring Rakesh Chaurasia won and Best Global Albuforto Shakti’s The Moment.
