Beyoncé’s genre-defying masterpiece, Cowboy Carter, claimed the coveted Album of the Year award, further cementing her legacy as a music icon. This historic win adds to her ever-expanding list of accolades, making her the most nominated artist in Recording Academy history with 99 career nominations a feat unmatched in the industry.

Also, Nigeria’s very own Temilade Openiyi, fondly called Tems, made waves by securing the Best African Music Performance award with her hit song Love Me JeJe. She triumphed over a star-studded lineup, including Yemi Alade’s Tomorrow, Asake and Wizkid’s MMS, Chris Brown, Davido, and Lojay’s Sensational, and Burna Boy’s Higher. This victory marks another milestone for African music on the global stage.

Big Winners of the Night

From rap legends to pop powerhouses, the evening was filled with triumphant moments. Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us dominated the Song of the Year and Best Rap Performance categories, while Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso stole the spotlight for Best Pop Solo Performance.

The legendary Beatles proved their timeless appeal, winning Best Rock Performance for Now and Then, while St. Vincent took home Best Rock Song for Broken Man. Dave Chappelle once again proved his comedic brilliance, securing the Best Comedy Album award for The Dreamer.

While Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department may not have won Album of the Year, she did not leave empty-handed. Swift made history by winning Best Pop Vocal Album, continuing her reign as one of the industry’s most awarded artists.
