Ikpeba challenges Kanu, Okocha on new Super Eagles coach

Both Kanu and Okocha have said instability in the coaching situation of the Super Eagles will hurt the team.

However, Ikpeba said he is surprised by the new interest the former stars have taken when they did not make any comments when their fellow Super Eagles teammate Finidi George had issues in the same team.

“When Finidi had hi issues in the Super Eagles, how many of the ex-internationals came out to support him?,” he asked.

“So, why are they now making comments?”

“We need to be honest in our criticisms even though everyone is entitled to his own opinion.

“In everything, Nigeria must come first.”

He continued: “(Augustine) Eguavoen did a remarkable job to qualify us to the AFCON, but now a decision has been made and we have to support the new man.”

The former African Footballer of the Year said the Super Eagles next two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe will be crucial in the country’s quest to play at the global tournament.
