Ebiseni candidly addressed the speculations surrounding their visit, stating, “Our going has been interpreted severally by people. ‘We went to beg, we went to plead, we went to seek understanding’. Yes, I think I’ll pick the last one — understanding.”

The political delegation’s primary objective was a “friendly engagement” with the renowned Chief Afe Babalola, with whom Peter Obi shares a strong relationship. During their meeting, Babalola revealed that other prominent national figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Archbishop Martin Kukah, had previously discussed the matter with him.

“We spent quality time with him, after which we visited Dele Farotimi. We were not sent by Dele Farotimi,” Ebiseni clarified. “Ordinarily, because of the relationship between Peter Obi and Chief Afe, he would get to Ado on him.”

Emphasizing the visit’s nature, Ebiseni added, “So we did not do anything unusual by going to see Chief Afe and then Dele Farotimi in the process.”
