According to reports, the Colombian Striker’s former club, Envigado is also set to benefit nearly €2 million from the sale thanks to FIFA’s solidarity payments.

These payments are part of a scheme that rewards clubs for developing players during their early years.

Durán, who moved from Envigado to Aston Villa after stints at Chicago Fire and other clubs, spent his formative years at the Colombian team between the ages of 12 and 18.

FIFA’s solidarity scheme entitles Envigado to 2.5% of his transfer fee, which amounts to approximately €2 million.

This financial gain is significant for Envigado, a club where their record transfer fee is Yaser Asprilla’s €3 million move to Watford in 2021.

The €2 million they will receive from Durán’s deal exceeds even the €1.7 million they made when he moved to Chicago Fire in 2021.
