England midfielder Angel Gomes admitted he was aware of transfer speculation linking him with a return to the Premier League but will not make a decision on his future until the summer....CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤

Having come through the Manchester United academy, Gomes was tipped for big things after making his debut for the first-team in 2017, aged just 16.

But the midfielder found opportunities limited under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and ended up joining Lille on a free transfer three years later.

Since then, Gomes has flourished in a deeper midfield role, recording the joint-most assists in Ligue 1 last season and helping guide the French club back to the Champions League.

The 24-year-old also earned a maiden call-up to England’s senior squad under interim manager Lee Carsley, making an impressive first start in a 2-0 win against Finland back in September last year.

Despite a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury, Gomes has continually been linked with a move away from Lille, especially as his contract expires at the end of the season.

United have reportedly considered a move to bring back their former academy graduate to Old Trafford, while West Ham and Tottenham are also said to be keen on the central midfielder.

However, despite the speculation Gomes insisted that he won’t be rushed into making a decision before the end of the current campaign.

‘I’m aware of clubs enquiring about my situation, but I’m now completely focused on Lille,’ the Englishman told Fabrizio Romano.

‘I want to finish the season in the best way possible, and then we will see what happens, I’m focused on the present and not on negotiations.’

Arsenal are another club rumoured to be interested in a deal for Gomes, espeically with the contracts of Thomas Partey and Jorginho set to expire at the end of the season.

And former Gunners defender Lee Dixon reckons that Gomes would be a valuable addition to Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

‘I think Angel Gomes would fit in at Arsenal superbly,’ Dixon told plejmo.com. ‘His qualities are clear to see, he’s a very good link-up player and we’ve seen that he can play alongside Declan Rice.
