The state-of-the-art facility includes 16 major-general quarters, 34 brigadier-general quarters, 60 major-colonel flats, 60 lieutenant-captain flats, and 180 senior non-commissioned officer flats. Additionally, there are 264 flats for personnel ranked corporal and below, worship centres, sports facilities, and a powerhouse.
During the inauguration ceremony on Thursday, Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), highlighted the significance of naming the barracks after Tinubu.
“This naming is to give honour to whom honour is due. The president has demonstrated unwavering commitment to improving the welfare and operational needs of the army, particularly in addressing accommodation deficits,” Oluyede said.
The COAS also acknowledged the efforts of former army chiefs, Faruk Yahaya and the late Taoreed Lagbaja, for initiating and executing the project.
“Today, we celebrate the visionary leadership and relentless effort that created the foundation for us to complete and commission this project. The project being commissioned today is only phases one and two of the original plan,” he added.
Oluyede revealed that the barracks will accommodate 614 personnel, comprising 170 officers and 444 soldiers, along with their families.
“I am very confident that we can achieve our long-term goals with continued support from the federal government and other stakeholders,” he said. ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
