It was further gathered that one of the sponsors is an emerging bank.
“At least two sponsors have agreed to pay for the new foreign coach,” a top official informed SCORENigeria
“This agreement will soon be put on paper.”
The money to pay the salaries of a new foreign coach for the Super Eagles has remained the major stumbling block in the engagement of such a coach.
Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro was the Eagles last foreign coach and he was owed several months’ salary by the NFF before this was cleared by a special intervention fund from the Federal Government.
Earlier this year, NFF president Ibrahim Gusau said discussions have been ongoing with various sponsors to assist in paying for a foreign coach.
In June, the NFF announced that they will appoint a foreign coach for the Super Eagles.
In August, the German Bruno Labbadia turned down a chance to lead the country’s team after what the NFF said were contractual differences.
Augustine Eguavoen has been in temporary charge of the team and even qualified them for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
However, the NFF have maintained they will hire a foreign coach to take charge of a faltering qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup.
Nigeria are second bottom of their qualifying group with three points from four matches, four points arift of front runners Rwanda, South Africa and Benin.
