BREAKING: Shake-up in military as Nigerian Army announces major redeployment of top officers

The reshuffle involves new General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Corps Commanders, and the appointment of a new Force Commander for the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

According to a statement by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the changes are part of the army’s strategy to address emerging security challenges and strengthen ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security.

The newly appointed GOCs include Major General OT Olatoye, previously at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, now the GOC of 82 Division/Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) South East Operation Udoka in Enugu.

Major General EF Oyinlola moved from the Department of Military Secretary to the 3 Division Headquarters in Jos as GOC and Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

Major General AGL Haruna confirmed as GOC 7 Division/Commander Sector 1 JTF North East Operation Hadin Kai.

Major General IA Ajose confirmed as GOC 8 Division/Commander Sector 2 JTF North West Operation Fasan Yanma.

Major General GM Mutkut has been appointed Force Commander of the MNJTF in N’Djamena, Chad, moving from the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre.

Among the newly assigned PSOs at Army Headquarters are: Major General LA Fejokwu as Chief of Administration, Major General GU Chibuisi as Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General AS Ndalolo as Chief of Training, Major General OS Abai as Chief of Transformation and Innovation and Major General JH Abdussalam as Chief of Special Services and Programmes.

Senior officers assuming new roles include Major General OC Ajunwa, Commander of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Major General HT Wesley, Commander of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major General TT Numbere, Commander of the Nigerian Army Engineers.

The statement also highlighted new commandants for key military training institutions, including the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Army War College Nigeria, and the Nigerian Army School of Infantry.
