The programme is called WASSCE PC1.
This move breaks away from the traditional system, where students had to wait for the next private exam session, often resulting in a year-long delay.
WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, disclosed this information during a recent appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show.
He announced that candidates interested in resitting any papers must register online through the WAEC website or visit a WAEC-accredited internet café by January 8.
The exams are scheduled to take place from January 24 to February 15, 2025.
It will be conducted in regional capitals, as the maiden edition is expected to attract a relatively small number of candidates.
To facilitate effective preparation, WAEC intends to expedite the release of chief examiners’ reports, offering valuable insights into common errors and strategies for success.
This supportive measure is anticipated to benefit students in Ghana and other West African countries who have recently received their WAEC results.
Kapi said: “Students, who access their WAEC results now and realise they need to resit one or two papers have until 8th January to register online through our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés.
“The exams will take place from 24th January to 15th February 2025.
“These reports will provide detailed feedback on where students may have gone wrong and how they can better approach their studies and the examination process.
“We have advertised this programme widely through banners, our website, and our results checker platform to ensure that both students and parents are aware.”
Kapi further noted that students who had their results canceled are also eligible to participate in the exams, provided they have not been barred from taking the exam due to malpractice for a specified number of years.
He said: “For now, the exams will be conducted in regional capitals due to the limited number of candidates.
“Prospective participants are urged to complete their registration by the 8th of January to take advantage of this opportunity.”
According to Kapi, WAEC is hopeful that this initiative will allow candidates to quickly upgrade their grades, secure admission into their desired institutions, and avoid a costly year-long delay in their academic progression.
The announcement came at a time when the organization is grappling with challenges, including the withholding of over 215,000 candidates’ results from the 2024 WASSCE due to allegations of malpractice.
Notably, WAEC’s head in Nigeria, Dr. Amos Dangut, revealed that 11.92% of the 1.8 million candidates who took the exams were implicated in malpractice. ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
