Force (NPF). The high-stakes rescue operation, which concluded this week, has drawn praise from Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, who called on law enforcement to replicate such efficiency in protecting everyday Nigerians.

On January 16, Mrs. Folashade Odumosu was abducted outside her home in Arepo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. Four masked men dragged her from her sport utility vehicle (SUV) and whisked her away through a swampy terrain to an undisclosed location.

Following the abduction, the Ogun State Police Command deployed a team to investigate and track the criminals. Just days later, Muyiwa Adejobi, the force spokesperson, confirmed that the operatives had successfully rescued the victim unharmed. During the operation, the kidnappers were neutralized, and the ransom money, along with their weapons, was recovered.

Reacting to the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Peter Obi

commended the professionalism and urgency displayed by the police, while urging them to extend such efforts to cases involving ordinary citizens.

“I commend the Nigeria Police for their swift and effective response in rescuing Mrs. Folashade Odumosu,” Obi wrote. “The operation, conducted within a week, highlights their capability to act decisively when motivated. The precision of this rescue mission, which led to her safe release and the neutralization of the kidnappers, is praiseworthy.”

Obi also pointed out the role of leadership and technical support in the operation’s success. He acknowledged the cooperation between the Ogun State Police Command, the Force Headquarters, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who showed “exceptional interest” in the case.

However, the Labour Party leader used the moment to shed light on a pressing issue. Obi emphasized the need for similar urgency in addressing the plight of everyday Nigerians, many of whom remain victims of kidnapping without the resources or attention afforded to high-profile cases.

“This success story underscores a critical point: with proper leadership, motivation, and support, the fight against crime can yield impressive results,” Obi stated. “While celebrating this achievement, I urge the Nigeria Police to extend the same level of professionalism to the countless Nigerians whose plights often go unnoticed or ignored.” ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
