Osadolor said Okpebholo has remained trapped in the 1999 constitution and is not up to date on the Supreme Court ruling on local government autonomy.Edo State House of Assembly had, on December 17, 2024, suspended all 18 local government chairmen and their deputies for two months over alleged insubordination and gross misconduct.

Reacting to the development during an interview with Daily Independent published on Monday, the PDP chieftain said, “Governor Okpebholo has chosen to listen to the many biceps around him, rather than common sense.”

Osadolor accused Okpebholo of promoting thuggery and leaving observers as well as stakeholders amused by his actions.

“You see when you do not have a government that understands what the rule of law means, you get a Governor like Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, who is still trapped in the 1999 Constitution and alien to developments around him, particularly the recent Supreme Court judgment on local government autonomy.

“A Governor, who believes and promotes thuggery. We all saw his hype man and others carrying canes from one local government area secretariat to another looking for elected council chairmen to flog. This is too much. The debasement is saddening.

Osadolor, however, expressed hopes that the PDP Governorship candidate in the 2024 Edo election, Asue Ighodalo, would be victorious in court and replace Okpebholo as the Edo State Governor.

He urged the people of the state to exercise patience.

“I plead with Edo people to endure, we believe this temporary Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) pronouncements against the wish of Edo people will be vacated and Asue Ighodalo will come back to do the job Edo people have voted for him to come and do,” he concluded. ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
