Powerful emphasized that it is Rivers State’s turn to produce the next President-General of Ohanaeze, not Imo. He further expressed that those endorsing Okiro should cease their actions, as the move is seen as an attempt to upset the zoning structure that has been put in place for fairness and unity within the Igbo community.

Powerful remarked, “It is clear that some powerful figures in Imo State are behind this plot to tarnish the integrity of Okiro and destabilize Ohanaeze Ndigbo, much like they have done to Imo State itself.”

He continued by accusing the faceless group of undermining efforts toward uniting the Igbo nation and criticized them for fostering divisions at a time when many groups are working to consolidate Igbo territories from Igbanke to Isobo. The IPOB spokesperson warned that any further attempts to disrupt the election process would not be tolerated, and IPOB would hold those responsible accountable.

“The contest for the President-General role is rightfully reserved for the Igbos of Rivers State, and Mike Okiro, who contested and lost during Imo State’s turn, should not be used to create division,” Powerful declared. “Anyone pushing for Okiro to contest against Rivers State’s rightful turn is trying to stir trouble, and IPOB will confront such moves head-on.”

IPOB also made it clear that it would no longer allow political manipulation of Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s leadership, asserting that Igbo governors and politicians must respect the organization’s autonomy and allow it to operate independently of political influence.

“Any attempt to undermine Rivers State’s opportunity to lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo will be met with resistance, and the responsible parties will be held accountable,” Powerful concluded.READ FULL ARTICLE
