In the past 48 hours, the 19-year-old forward has made the decision to leave the Bavarian giants after being left on the bench for Bayern’s past three matches in all competitions.

The Frenchman’s availability has placed a number of English teams on red alert, however, there is also firm interest from both Germany and France.

Up to 10 clubs are understood to be in contention for Tel’s signature though at this stage, Bayern are unlikely to sanction the player’s departure without securing a replacement as they had planned to keep hold of the ex-Rennes teenager this month.

Chelsea had identified Tel among a list of potential attacking targets alongside the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens but Blues sources indicated they would only bid if they were given encouragement the forward was available.

Bayern also hold an interest in Christopher Nkunku which from the outside, could bolster Chelsea’s chances of striking a deal.

However, given Tel has been short of minutes in Germany, he is believed to be sceptical about the prospect of moving to Stamford Bridge where competition for places remains fierce as he wants to play regular football.

Tottenham are actively pursuing Tel while Arsenal have made initial enquiries but club sources remain tight-lipped on the extent of potential interest. Nottingham Forest were keen to explore a possible loan ahead of the January window but were told Tel would not be leaving Bayern this winter – it remains to be seen if the Tricky Trees reignite those discussions.

Manchester United also remain a possible destination for the France U21 starlet providing Bayern would be willing to sanction an initial loan. Any swoop from the Red Devils may also hinge on the futures of Garnacho and Marcus Rashford as United’s spending power is extremely limited.

Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Stuttgart and Marseille are all among Tel’s admirers but Bayern would understandably prefer to sell abroad to avoid strengthening a direct rival. French side Marseille have already made an unsuccessful loan approach that proved too financially complex.

Tel’s agent Gadiri Camara is now fielding calls over his client’s future and will work in consultation with the Bayern hierarchy to find a solution.

Interested parties are being encouraged to present their plan and project for the talented striker, who can also operate out wide, as at this stage – any transfer hinges on both playing time and satisfying Bayern’s financial demands.
