Speaking in an interview with Hip TV, Basketmouth accused some filmmakers of squandering opportunities to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage through their works.

He criticised recent epic movies, describing them as poorly executed and resembling stage plays.

“I believe that we still have the opportunity to get it right. But we had a great opportunity to showcase our culture, and most of the filmmakers blew it up,” he said.

“When I was seeing most of the epic movies, I was disappointed. You guys blew up a great opportunity, but let’s hope we still have another chance to strike at it.”

Basketmouth also noted that only a few movies have impressed him so far, adding, “I believe that we can do more.”

This is not the first time the movie star has called out his colleagues in the industry.

In a recent interview with Arise TV, Basketmouth alleged that many producers misuse production budgets, diverting up to 90% of the funds to their personal lifestyles.

He claimed that this dishonest practice has led streaming platforms to bypass producers by paying actors directly.
