The group said the directive of the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara urging North Central PDP stakeholders to convene and nominate a replacement for the former National Chairman, Dr. Iyiorchia Ayu was a deliberate attempt designed to obstruct the unity and progress of the opposition party.
A statement issued at the end of an emergency meeting in Lagos advised North Central PDP stakeholders not to rock the boat.
The statement read by the Chairperson of South-West PDP Unity Forum, Alhaja Aisha Bankole lauded Damagum for his committed leadership.
The woman commended Damagum for uniting and injecting discipline amongst the ranks.
They expressed satisfaction at the improvements resulting from the party the state congresses.
The statement applauded the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Hon Umar Bature, for restoring glimpses of hope, adding value, addressing the challenges and organizing the party’s activities properly.
The meeting adopted a tough position on those scrambling for the chairmanship post.
The South-West women urged the North-Central PDP stakeholders to pocket their ambition in the interest of peace in the party.
‘’The wobbly performance of the PDP in the North Central in 2023 demands a radical and strategic approach towards strengthening the party in the zone. The leaders should forget the chairmanship position and think of how to reclaim the zone in 2027’’
They urged PDP members in the North Central and South-South to stop giving democracy a bad name through character assassination and abuses.
‘’These people are not united by the common desire to move PDP forward. Instead, their main interest is to destroy the party and bring down the reputation of Damagum.
The statement emphasized decorum, Damaum’s track record, leadership qualities, performance and sincerity.
