Pastor Adeboye explained that individuals aged 70 and above are exempt from the rigorous fasting program. Using his characteristic humor, he remarked, “If you are over the age of seventy, your prayers are local calls to heaven, and you do not require an international code.” He further added, “Your boarding card has already been issued to you if you are above seventy. Fasting is unnecessary for your prayers to be heard because some of us are already in the departure lounge.”

For seniors still wishing to participate, Pastor Adeboye suggested breaking their fast daily at 3 p.m. He advised members aged 80 and above to break their fast at noon, considering their advanced age. For those aged 90 or older, he strongly discouraged fasting, humorously stating, “We don’t want you to go yet.”

Pastor Adeboye reiterated, “I am certain you are aware that we are fasting for a period of one hundred days. I have always maintained that if you are above seventy, your prayers are local calls to heaven, and you do not need an international code. Therefore, anyone aged 70 or older is exempt from this rule. Your boarding card has already been issued if you are above seventy. It is not necessary to fast for your prayers to reach heaven because some of us are already in the departure lounge.”

He concluded with guidance for those who insist on participating: “If you are above seventy and still want to join, you may break your fast daily at 3 p.m. If you are over 80, break your fast by noon.
