The opposition presidential candidate, Venancio Mondlane, declared that a new phase of protests would initiate this past Wednesday and continue for a week.

According to Orlando Mudumane, the national police spokesperson, protesters in Maputo utilized burning tires and homemade explosives to block roads and attack government buildings, injuring about 20 people during clashes with police, who used tear gas.

“However, we managed to disperse them before they could attack, vandalize police units, and seize their equipment”
