The meeting, which took place at the Maimalari Military Cantonment in Maiduguri, focused on security issues along the Biu-Maiduguri road and in the Mandara Mountains, a known insurgent hotspot in Gwoza Local Government Area.

While the details of the meeting remain confidential, it is believed that Senator Ndume aimed to strengthen cooperation with the military to improve safety in these crucial areas.

As a former chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ndume has long been an advocate for better security in Borno South and throughout the region.

Major General Waidi Shaibu welcomed the senator, acknowledging his ongoing support for the Nigerian Army. “Distinguished, welcome home. Although I just took command recently, your support for the military over the years, especially during festive seasons like Sallah and Christmas, has been invaluable,” Shaibu remarked.

He also highlighted that Ndume’s efforts have boosted the morale of troops and strengthened ties between the military and local communities.

In addition to his security efforts, Senator Ndume also donated 25 bulls to military units across Borno South in celebration of the Christmas season.
