Salah scored twice to help Arne Slot’s side claim a 6-3 win over Spurs on Sunday evening. It means the Reds are now four points clear at the top of the Premier League, with a game in hand over second-place Chelsea, heading into Christmas.

His second goal sent Liverpool 5-1 up, but strikes from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke handed Spurs a faint glimmer of hope in the final 20 minutes. Those goals meant that the scoreline did not reflect the visitors’ utter dominance.

That made it a frustrating evening for Salah despite his goals. The Egyptian demanded his side improve at the back, despite their title charge marching on.

“We worked quite good upfront but defensively we need to improve as a team. Conceding three goals is quite hard. But it’s a good result. We expected [chaos] the way they play, they open the game,” he told Sky Sports.

“They enjoy their football, physically tough and mentally we always have to be in the game. They have the way they play, they don’t change it much. You see other teams come here and struggle.

“I’m happy we won because they play an intense game. It’s great to achieve that [fourth all-time Liverpool scorer] at such a big club, but the most important thing is that we won the game. Wherever I am going to end my career I am happy about it.”

Salah also laid on the assist for Dominik Szoboszlai’s goal at the end of the first half. That meant the became the first player in Premier League history to both score 10 goals and notch 10 assists before Christmas.

The attacker is out of contract at the end of the season and replied simply “No” when asked if there was an update on his future. Salah’s team-mate Alexis Mac Allister agreed with the Egyptian, insisting he was not happy with his side’s defending.

“We spoke about it in the dressing room, we are not happy with the fact we conceded three goals, that’s very clear, but we score six, that’s not very easy. Tottenham are a good team, they press really high, they are aggressive, we knew we had to put the ball in behind and score the opportunities we had,” he told BBC Sport.

“We are happy with the result, there are many things to improve but we’re happy to get the three points. At the back we have to play simple and get the ball to them [attackers]. We worked on this the whole week and we try to improve every single day.

“We know we have to concede less, we are not happy with conceding three today, but it is what it is, we play against really good teams. Maybe we have to defend better but also we know we are dangerous when we attack.” ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
