The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted claims that it has invited former President Goodluck Jonathan to run for the presidency in 2027. In a statement to BBC Hausa, the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, clarified that the party had not issued Jonathan a presidential ticket.
Abdullahi explained that his previous interview, which sparked confusion, was misinterpreted. He acknowledged Jonathan’s eligibility to run, noting that, under Nigerian law, he still has one more term left to contest. However, Abdullahi emphasized that the party had not extended an invitation to Jonathan.

Abdullahi questioned why the PDP would consider someone who has shown no interest in running, adding that the party already has capable politicians, including 12 state governors, who are eligible and prepared to contest.
The PDP leader reaffirmed that the issue of Jonathan’s potential candidacy has not been discussed by party leaders, making it clear that, for now, the focus remains on the party’s internal candidates for the 2027 election. ...CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE➤
