Having endured a toxic marriage, Amina made the difficult decision to leave her home in Kano and travel to Dubai. She lived there for over three years, yet she came back empty-handed.
According to Amina, her parents had rejected her during her younger years. Whenever her husband physically abused her, they would insist that she return to him, leaving her feeling hopeless and frustrated.
In a desperate attempt to escape her struggles, she left her three children and husband behind and went to Dubai, hoping to support her family from abroad. However, her situation worsened. After a year, she ran away from her employer’s home and sought refuge with fellow Nigerians.
Tragically, the Nigerian who took her in betrayed her, stealing all her money and leaving her destitute. This forced Amina to associate with a bad crowd, and during this time, she met a Sudanese man with whom she began a romantic relationship. She eventually became pregnant with her fourth child, but the man abandoned her and returned to his country.
Two years later, Amina met another man, but history repeated itself. He also abandoned her, leaving her pregnant with her fifth child.
Unable to provide for her children, Amina decided to return to Nigeria. Now a mother of five, she struggles with homelessness and relies on a friend in Abuja to support her and her children.
